Gynaecological ailments

For amenorrhea, J.F. Oberlin used infusion decoctions of bitter and astringent aromatic plants: absinth, arnica, sweet balm and rue.
For metritis, he recommended blood letting or enemas and barley tea.
For puerperal fever, he recommended steam baths from water in which turnips had been cooked, or drinking sweet violet blossom tea.
Sneezewort yarrow was recommended during difficult births. To cause sneezing, tobacco, lily of the valley or horse chestnut powder was put into the nostrils.
